3 Steps to Be an Internet Entrepreneur

What are the ingredients of an affiliate marketing success story? Is there a shortcut to Affiliate Marketing stardom?

Affiliate marketing is an arrangement between an online business and affiliate partner, in which the affiliate earns a commission for generating sales, leads and/or clicks for the seller’s web site. Affiliate marketing, therefore, represents a win-win situation for sellers and Affiliate marketers. The seller gains opportunities to advertise their products for free to a larger audience which will increase sales. The more hard-working an affiliates is the more sales they can expect. By getting affiliates to market products and services, the seller will save time, effort and money in looking for possible markets and customers. When a customer clicks on a link on an affiliate website and purchases the product the seller earns a profit from the sale of that product. On the other hand, the affiliate marketer benefits from commission earned when a customer purchases the product as long as the customer used the affiliate links setup by the affiliate. What makes the concept all the more attractive is that it does not cost money to join and affiliate program.

If you want to be an affiliate marketer and make money working online, then follow these three basic steps to get you started.

1. Identify your Niche

Your first step is to identify a particular niche you are interested in or passionate about. Remember the key is that you want people to come to your sight by offering them something they need. How cool would it be to start an online business providing people with useful information about something YOU are passionate about and at the same time earning money.

Struggling to find a niche? Ask yourself these three questions –

1. What am I passionate about?

2. What problem could I solve for other people?

3. What are people’s fears that I could help to overcome?

2. Build your Website

The most important and indispensable instrument in Affiliate Markers toolbox is to own and run your own website. The primary step in any thriving affiliate marketing business is creating a good, believable and professional looking website. Your website is the jump off point of all your marketing efforts. Thus, you must first create an easy-to-use website, which will appeal to your prospects and encourage them to click on the links to the goods and services you are promoting and hopefully create a purchase.

You must first focus your efforts in building a site that can cater to what your customers needs and not to focus on marketing tricks. The most important thing you should consider is that almost all internet users go online to search for information, not automatically to go and buy something. Above all else, make your website is packed with original, relevant and practical content. People love information that is appealing and helpful. Keep in mind that, on the internet, content is always king and top quality content will not just raise your credibility and authority, it will also help you fulfill a higher-level search engine ranking. By posting relevant and useful articles, you establish yourself as a trustworthy endorser of the product or service you support. Establishing a good reputation is a good move in building up a loyal consumer base.

3. Driving Traffic

The value of driving highly targeted traffic to your website cannot be emphasized enough. Now that you have decided which products to promote and the merchant you are supporting and have created your own website with a domain name and reliable hosting, you are ready to promote. This is the toughest part, without traffic you are not going to make any commission.

Driving traffic to your site is by far the most crucial components to being a successful Affiliate Marketer. Attracting people to your site has to be the first action you should carry out. There are many proven methods of driving traffic. Some of my favorites include –

SEO – Search Engine Optimization: Using techniques on your site to ensure your site appears top of Google rankings for given keywords. Use Keyword search tools such as those available from Google and include this in your web pages. Make sure you add a short 140 word description that identifies your site.

Article Marketing – Link Popularity is one of the algorithms that search engines use to establish search engine rankings. One of the best ways to increase your link popularity, at no cost, is by submitting articles, with your site’s web address in the resource box, to e-zines and free article sites. You may not only earn exposure, you may also have the opportunity to advertise for no cost, just include a link pointing to your site. The more sites you send your articles to, the better your link popularity is. Ensure your articles are unique, pertinent and practical so that other websites may pick it up and post it. These are but three of the many tools that an affiliate marketer can use to build up earning potential.

AdWords – Google AdWords allows sellers to promote their products with Google. Every time a customer clicks on the AdWord link in a Google search response they are directed to your site and you are charged a small fee.

Finally a word of warning there is no quick path towards success. Affiliate marketing is a simple concept and with the right application YOU WILL generate you a very handsome income. However, it requires a great deal of hard work, persistence and a steep learning curve.

Good Luck
